11. Instagram Insights (Data from Meta)

A business can connect its Instagram professional account (Business or Creator) to the Welcome Back dashboard. We connect through the official Instagram API with Instagram Login, with two permissions: instagram_business_basic and instagram_business_manage_insights. The business owner gives this access and can remove it at any time.

What we read

• Profile: username, name, account type, biography, website, profile picture, and the numbers of posts, followers and accounts followed.
• Posts: caption, picture or video link, format, publish date, and the numbers of likes and comments.
• Statistics of each post: reach, views, saves, shares and watch time.
• Statistics of the account: reach, follower count, accounts engaged, interactions, profile views and website clicks, and the audience of the followers as totals by city, age range and gender. We do not receive data about one follower.

We do not read direct messages or the text of comments, and we never publish, comment or send messages for the business.

How we use it

• Only to show the business its own Instagram statistics in its dashboard, and to give it analyses and content suggestions.
• We do not sell this data, do not use it for advertising, and do not show it to other businesses or users.
• Analyses and suggestions are made with an AI model. To make them, we send post captions, post statistics and the audience totals to Amazon Bedrock (Amazon Web Services), which acts as our processor and can process the data in the United States. Under the AWS terms, this data is not used to train AI models.

Storage and security

• We store the data in our database at Amazon Web Services (São Paulo region).
• The Instagram access token is encrypted with a key managed in AWS Key Management Service.
• We keep the data while the account stays connected.

How to delete the data

• In the dashboard, open Instagram, open the “···” menu and select “Desconectar” (Disconnect). This deletes at once the access token, the stored Instagram data and the AI analyses. Posts that the business planned in its calendar stay until the business deletes them.
• You can also remove Welcome Back in the Instagram app (Settings → Website permissions → Apps and websites) and write to cristian@welcomeback.io. We delete the data within 30 days and confirm by email.
